A Year in Review at New Gold
At New Gold, meaningful community engagement remains at the heart of our operations. Over the past year, we’ve continued to strengthen relationships with communities and local stakeholders. We value our connections and strive to continue to strengthen our relationships.
In 2025, we continued to connect with our communities and stakeholders:
- Quarterly meetings with neighbours included topics of interest such as cyanide management, operations, and closure planning. These meetings also offered a collaborative platform to review internal processes, including Communities of Interest identification process and list, as well as New Gold’s external feedback process.
- Partnerships with local education institutions and Indigenous communities included career fairs and presentations to schools including a mining foundation class. We connected with key education leaders to promote mining careers and explore ways to increase employment of local, Indigenous, and underrepresented groups at the mine.
- Education of employees through cultural awareness training opportunities like a weekly “Teaching Tuesdays” communications to all employees that share Ojibwe traditions and teachings. Local Elders provided guidance on themes for these teachings and led our annual Spring and Fall Ceremonies.
- Translation of New Gold Values to Ojibwe through the assistance of a local translator which were posted around the mine site, further educating employees.
Employees and members of the community team participated in many community events and engagement activities. These included mine updates with neighbours and municipalities, the MMIWG2s Awareness Walk, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation events, fall harvests at Seven Generations Institute and Rainy River First Nations, presentation to seniors groups, mines and minerals presentation and programs at local schools, hosting public tours, as well as local business expos and award ceremonies.
The connections forged this year are just the beginning. In 2026 and beyond, we are committed to making every engagement count—delivering lasting impact for our communities, our partners, and our people.
