Fostering Employee Wellbeing

What it means to us

Our people are of paramount importance to us. We strive to foster a safe and supportive work culture with a commitment to the highest standards in employee health and safety. Safety training, with an emphasis on near-miss and hazard reporting, as well as professional and personal development, demonstrates our values-based approach to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees.

Mental Health and Wellness

Keeping our people healthy and safe is an integral component of our workplace culture. A significant part of this culture is our focus on mental health and wellbeing. We have partnered with agencies and organizations to offer programs and support to Rainy River employees, including the Not Myself Today® program from the Canadian Mental Health Association. Rainy River has also offered a series Mental Health First Aid Courses to support our employees and their families.

Emergency Response Team

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) includes members from all departments. The ERT has the capacity to respond to emergencies at site and provides development opportunities for our team members while supporting organization and community needs. Some training exercises are performed jointly with Chapple township and some ERT members have also joined their local volunteer fire departments.

System and Standards

Our workplace culture is driven by our Health and Safety Management System, which outlines the policies and procedures that inform our day-to-day operations. This System ensures compliance with our permits as well as mechanisms to drive continual improvement and innovation.
